Dr. Adler-Tapia is a licensed psychologist who started work as a firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT). In addition, her early university career started by studying nursing before moving on to her life profession as a psychologist.

She is the author of “One Badge-One Brain – One Life: Preventative Maintenance and Brain Health Training for Emergency Responders.” And, she has multiple chapters and articles on working with Emergency Responders. Her workshop “Haunted” teaches therapists to work with Emergency Responders.

Currently, she is an Employee Assistance Provider for law enforcement, firefighters, and Emergency Responders, and the Founder/Clinical Director of FiRSST. Dr. Adler-Tapia was part of the Mental Health Team for the National Fallen Firefighters’, Taking Care of Our Own Program, and she was one of the Founders of PISTLE (Post Incident Stress and Trauma in Law Enforcement). She is the great-granddaughter and granddaughter of Law Enforcement Officers, and the daughter of a Volunteer Fire Chief who still responds to calls at the age of 86.

As a national and international speaker, Dr. Adler-Tapia was trained as an EMDR therapy Trainer by Dr. Francine Shapiro, the Founder of EMDR therapy, and has provided trainings since 2005. Dr. Robbie has presented at many EMDRIA conferences in the US, Europe, and Brazil, the ISST-D Conference, the ERAP (the Emergency Responders Assistance Program), the National Fallen Firefighters’ Foundation, Arizona Women in Policing, PISTLE, and the Rady Chadwick International Child & Family Maltreatment Conference. She also presented at the Iceland Women and Children’s National Conference, and presented various EMDR therapy topics in Brazil, Kenya, and Australia. Finally, she presented a pre- recorded training on Child Welfare for the US State Department in Latvia.

On a volunteer basis, Dr. Adler-Tapia is involved in various committees. She sat on the Tempe Mayor’s Task Force focused on concerns about policing, on the Arizona State Subcommittee for PTSD in Emergency Responders, Public Safety, and the Military and Veterans, and on the City of Phoenix Craig Tiger PTSD Committee

Dr. Adler-Tapia has been married for 35 years to her best friend, Dr. Hugo Tapia who is a school psychologist and the couple have 6 adult children (3 birth and 3 bonus humans).
