In this episode, Bonnie and David speak with Dr. Peter M. Antevy about managing mental health challenges at critical incidents, the story behind creating the Handtevy App, and how it saves lives and significantly reduces medication errors.

Dr. Antevy speaks about his role at the Parkland shooting, the mental health challenges encountered, the battle scars and takeaways. We also explore the value of follow up and getting closure for EMS providers after a critical patient encounter. He discusses how we can use psychology tools to do the EMS job better.

Dr. Peter M. Antevy is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician who has dedicated his career to providing exceptional in-hospital emergency care at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, a leading level I trauma and tertiary care center in South Florida. He is board-certified in pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, as well as EMS, a field he’s made a significant impact in over the past 13 years. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Antevy serves as the Medical Director for various agencies in South Florida, and recently took on the role of Chief Medical Officer for Brevard County Fire Rescue. With a passion for innovation and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of clinical care, he is a valuable asset to the EMS profession and continues to work on the front lines.
