US Police & Fire Championships-Olympics Style Events for 1st Responders | S2 E46

In this episode, we speak with Edmund Russell, Executive Director, and Jim King, Vice President of the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF). Edmund is a retired 31-year member of the LAPD, and Jim retired as a Captain from the Indianapolis Fire Department after 30 years of service.

The United States Police & Fire Championships is an Olympic-style competition with athletes representing law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, and officers from corrections, probation, border protection, immigration and customs from across the country. Athletes compete in 50 different sports in 35 venues through-out the County of San Diego.

The USPFC is now open to eligible firefighting and law enforcement personnel, either active or retired, from all 50 states and United States’ territories. Competition has expanded from the original 16 sports to more than 50 events scheduled to be held in San Diego June 10-17, 2023. Events include Basketball, Track & Field, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Jiu Jitsu, Swimming, Cycling, Push/Pull, Cornhole, Pickleball, Dodgeball, Pistol and Rifle Competitions, and Tennis.
